MY ART and design education: I studied painting and drawing at The University of Iowa, The University of Nebraska, The Art Students League of New York, and private tutoring in Switzerland. Further studies led me to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design Degree from the Art Institute of Dallas, and an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design Degree from Brookhaven College in Dallas.
MY REALIZED experience includes interning with international artists, as art gallery assistant in NYC, and as a practicing painter and sculptor. I have exhibited paintings, drawings, and totems in public and private galleries, executed large-scale public art as painted murals and digital photo montage spalsh graphics [as a museum exhibit designer], and have works in print.
I WORK in my home studios with whatever medium is available—pencil/paper, paint/canvas, assemblage, photography, digital art, and I have a passion for cooking. As a freelance graphic designer I enjoy creative freedom and look forward to more web and book design. I teach design theory and practice in beginning and advanced graphic design classes at Brookhaven College in the Visual Communications Department. My family, Beth, Q and I live in the Dallas area where we share the prep, cooking and clean-up.
FOR ME creativity is to force unlikely subject matter into a new problem to solve, including complexities such as interpreting conflicts of value or our place in nature. Ideally, a link exists between artist and viewer to understand that the process is the solution independent from formal analysis of art. Creating is experiencing the risk of following your passion—to turn vision into process into art—to be assessed, have meaning, and be given aesthetic value.
